The reason the tanks are being assembled at the opposite end of the yard to 4150 itself is that the loco will be going to Bridgnorth at the end of September.
When it is shunted out of its corner, there will be a crane on hire to lift the water tanks, bunker and roof on so it can all be towed up to Bridgnorth by rail in one piece.
Once there, the tanks will be lifted off again and the inner sides removed to allow the outer sides to be riveted. The inner sides, baffles and any other parts not on show will then be welded.

I see the SVR website 'locos in use' page for next week shows 4150's boiler is due to move to Bridgnorth on Monday 18th June.

Boiler is supposed to be in fairly good condition (it is a very old boiler orginally fitted to a Flower class!). I think some work was been done on the axleboxes years, and machining of parts for the motion has been. The tanks look shot, cab and bunker may be OK.
The above was posted in March 2007 - nearly 12 years to respond must be some sort of record!

The 4150 Fund have obtained copies of the original GWR Engine History and Boiler History cards which were on display at the AGM today. The current boiler on 4150 is number 5895 which was built in September 1939 and first fitted to 4150's sister locomotive 4135 which was outshopped in November 1939. It was later fitted to three different 6100 class locos before being installed on 4150 in October 1963. Sadly the connection to the Flower class therefore appears to be incorrect. I have updated the SVR Wiki entry accordingly.
