Interesting programme on Channel 4 last night, featuring the restoration of a Gresley coach at Llangollen.

"Great Rail Restorations With Peter Snow"

First of a new series. Next episode covers the restoration of a very far gone Victorian 4-wheeler.

Surely this is the Great Northern CBK (4229) that spent several years at Bewdley ?

Looking at its history in SVR News and stock books, it arrived at Bewdley in July 1977 having been acquired by the 4150 Fund as a mess coach. By 1990 it was owned by the LNER (SVR) Coach Association and was used as a workshop. At that stage it was a candidate for future restoration for 'fairly limited passenger service', but it was 'reluctantly' put up for sale in 1994. The reasons given were 'partly to finance the purchase of GNR 2701 and partly to make space'. It left for Llangollen in 1995.
