Goods Gala and Small Engine weekend sound like two good ideas for something different.

There's comment on FB from a member of the 40's committee that the quoted dates for 40s are a week early. The first weekend is actually 30th June/1st July and the second weekend is 7th/8th July.

Some interesting galas though I can't see the point of having a small engines gala the week after the autumn steam gala.

The 1940s weekends have been amended http://www.svr.co.uk/NewsItem.aspx?a=806

The ELR, at least, did one this year.

That weekend this year is a B/C weekend.

The SVR will have the current small locos 813, 1450, 1501 and 7714. If a gala visitor (or two?) hung around, use the Teddy Bear on the diesel turn, perhaps even a diesel shunter on a driver experience at HY or brake van riun from KR-BY and it's a low-cost add-on to the gala I guess.

I notice there is a provisional Hover anniversary gala in the old diesel gala slot 4th-6th October though I don't know why they need three days. This could just be done at the weekend of 6th and 7th October with a bit of steam as well.

Is it Hoovers only? Is there no steam?

The similar Western Weekend a couple of years back had steam too.

I suppose it could be, though they could operate two hoovers and two steam on both days.

And the other two resident 50s sit around doing nothing, before any visitors are considered?
Alternatively the organisers may be planning a somewhat less low key, higher level of entertainment event !
