and now on an SVR NBI today.....

Subject to final agreements between Severn Valley Railway (Holdings) Plc and Great Western Society Limited, Iconic King Class locomotive No 6023 ‘King Edward II’ is expected to join the SVR locomotive line up for the Spring Steam Gala on the 16th – 18th March 2018.

The gala appearance is connected to some testing requirements for the GWS. 6023 has a new smokebox draughting system fitted due to the alterations made to the locos height, so the steaming ability of the loco requires proving on loaded trains. The testing is likely to start in late February. 6023 is a fantastic addition to an already stellar gala line up and I'm sure everyone will enjoy the chance to see this locomotive in operation on Severn Valley Railway.

Why are SVR not selling it like in previous years? I also notice the auto coaches are being used as normal coaches not in auto mode with 1450 on the front, why is this? Are the pig and Bradley reserve engines?

The SSG one isn't normally sold, or I can't remember the last time it was.

SVR Winter News described 43106 as having a flue set replaced mud hole door welds investigated - possibly this will follow current work on 2857 and 34027?

Thanks Kieron.

43106 is out this coming weekend as the SVR Meet the locomotives says, http://www.svr.co.uk/MeetTheLoco.aspx?id=120.

PS how is 1264 getting to SVR as the above link says it is doing an engine and coach move from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth on Tuesday 13th March?

I've seen the gala booklet (as opposed to the WTT) will be online early this week, deliberately held back to include some late information.

There are a some TBCs for loco direction http://www.svr.co.uk/SEItem.aspx?a=65 to be updated

A question, when was the last SSG or ASG to feature only three home locos? (I'm not complaining)

EDIT 18:57. Pete Thornhill on Nat Pres comments: "2009 Spring Gala only featured two! Line up was 71000, 70013, 5029 & 60007 visiting with 7812 & 5164 from the home fleet - a six engine gala."

There appears to reports that the 61264 trust have emailed their supporters saying that 61264's winter work has overrun and thus won't be appearing at the SSG. Nothing more official yet though.

Did it run at the NYMR gala? I can't see any mention of it other than it was booked there.

IIRC the NYMR don't do spring gala any more and I think they were generally May so after the SVR's.

Perhaps it was just a Tornado week, can't find any video of 61264 recently. The B1 site did say "Fresh back from winter maintenance 61264 will be out and about the line during this busy week" but it obviously wasn't.

Thompson B1 Trust Facebook @ 8.47 PM

"Unfortunately due to overrunning winter maintenance. The loco is not yet finished and we will not be able to make the loco fit for its move to SVR with Tornado on Tuesday.

We apologise for the disappointment this may cause, and hope that you will continue to support us in the future.

We do hope that the loco can visit the SVR at some point in the future.

We are still planning to carry out the Whitby Flyer tours on 7th and 14th April.

Thompson B1 Trust."

Same old story, post in more than one place, make a change, then forget to change "the other place".

https://www.thompsonb1.org/events/severn-valley-railway-spring-steam-gala/ still says "Completing a trio of LNER locomotives, we’re thrilled to announce that 61264 is heading to the Seven Valley from March 16 – 18 to take a starring role in their grand season opener."

Same old story, once again Facebook proves to be the most up to date and accurate source of information. Razz
