Reported on the Severn Valley Diesels Official Group [published 07 January 2018, 5hrs ago].
https://www.facebook.com/groups/895472313877202/
We are pleased to announce another visiting locomotive for the 2018 Diesel Festival: Class 37 no. 37688 owned by D05 Preservation Ltd. After receiving many requests for another Class 37 to visit we are sure this will be a popular choice. The locomotive should hopefully arrive here in the next few weeks. _________________ Regards

There is already a thread about the diesel gala, mods can this be put in that thread? _________________ Tim Easton, an SVR volunteer previously Kidderminster Town Station, now 3 years now on train buffet steward. |

Yes - if there are to be the same number of visitors as 2017 then creating separate threads for each visitor will cause havoc.......! _________________ Any views or opinions expressed are solely those of the author. |

A separate thread for each locomotive is hardly havoc. After all, the Steam section is up to eight pages now and everyone seems to manage just fine. _________________ Graham Phillips

It was a tongue in cheek comment.

After some of the comments last year about how “Kidderminster is in lockdown “ because some of the minor roads on the outskirts were closed for a few hours for a bike ride, it’s sometimes hard tell what’s satire and what isn’t. _________________ Graham Phillips

I agree. My sense of humour is quite sarcastic which is difficult to convey in writing, when a lot depends on tone of voice, etc.
Apologies for any confusion! _________________ Any views or opinions expressed are solely those of the author. |

On the contrary, it was a total pain. Kidderminster was inaccessible from Bridgnorth and other directions virtually all day, other than via Bewdley from the West of the river, and even that apparently required an agument with an 'official'. |

See what I mean? A detour via Bewdley and its bypass does not make Kidderminster “inaccessible from Bridgnorth”.
If you want “inaccessible” try living down Northwood Lane when it gets closed three times a week for up to three hours without warning. _________________ Graham Phillips

It was certainly a factor in reduced numbers at the ASG _________________ Michael Howard

How certain are you of that? There's no evidence one way or the other, but I'd say the repeated use of words like "lockdown" and "inaccessible" did far more harm than the road closures themselves.
It would have been more productive to give accurate advice on diversions and tell visitors to set off from home half an hour earlier because 15000 people are doing their hobby on the same weekend and in the same area as 5000 other people are doing a different hobby. _________________ Graham Phillips

A post on wnxx suggests it will come with 50026 which needs some work doing to it so I'd have thought both will come by rail. _________________ Matt |
