I went on a trip to Coalport and Ironbridge today. I see the extension north of Bridgnorth as started with a level crossing gate at Lloyd Head, Broseley. Wink

I am not fully sure if this article in the newspaper is totally relevant but it does talk about, quote, 'A railway line in Ironbridge could be reconnected to the mainline at Telford Central and beyond thanks to a newly announced government scheme, councillors have said', unquote.

Additional railway lines are surely a good idea?

Looks like politicians trying to get a few more votes.

As a bit of a cynic I'm inclined to agree to an extent, but it's better to see an attempt to see it used rather than lifted.

I had heard about these people through one of my contacts on the Valley so I think that I am obliged to bring this web-site to the attention of this forum! www.ironbridge-railway-trust.org.uk

I browsed through the Warley model railway pages and out of interest see that the Telford Steam Railway will also be attending just like the Severn Valley. Can we assume the competition is hotting up?

I'm not entirely clear whether the proposed 'Park and Ride' refers to a bus ride, to use of the existing rail connection (see Phases 2 and 3 of the Telford Steam Railway 'Steaming to Ironbridge' plans in the link a couple of posts above), or both.

The most obvious thing about both Proposals in that article is that there is housing across the former trackbed between the 'Park and Ride' and Ironbridge. That does not appear to make provision for the proposed narrow gauge tram between the site and Ironbridge which is Phase 4 of TSR's proposals.

Still, early days as the developers say.
