POST FROM UNOFFICIAL SEVERN VALLEY RAILWAY FACEBOOK GROUP

Class 40 arrival imminent!

All being well Class 40 no 40106 will arrive on the SVR this Thursday beginning a new chapter as we enter into a relationship with the Class Forty Preservation Society that will see one of their locos with us for one season at least.

After some of our crews have been trained on it, it is intended for 40106 to enter service on Saturday August 11th working our regular diesel diagram. This working will be vice 37688 which is still not yet able to operate vacuum braked coaches.

There is a movement on Thursday according to RTT http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/R41179/2018/08/02/advanced I presume this is 40106 and that it is being towed to the SVR, as there is also a corresponding return working.

Video from Kidder footbridge today, also 40145 at Stourbridge and Old Hill as it returned to Bury.

Also 7802, 43106, a pigeon, and a couple of units. If you want to skip that then jump to 4m30s.

Thanks Reg,

I couldn't risk trying an approach shot of 43106 as the diesels could appear in the distance at any moment, so played safe and kept an eye on the main line track as I filmed it entering the station. I caught a glimpse of the pigeon as I filmed and it provided an amusing bit of continuity from one train to another.

I've cropped some frames for a set of photos and will put them online later for tyheose who don't "YouTube".

Just finished uploading the photos, 15 of them. See blog post, which includes the small images which come out quite well on my mobile/tablet, or there is a link to the photos in the gallery if using a pc.

1J59 headcode on the return run, good job signallers don't identify trains by the headcode on the front anymore - that might've confused them??

Didn't get down the Valley last weekend, but filmed it at Kidder on the 19th, arriving and departing with a Footplate Experience - plus the usual "extras" such as 3 steam and a couple of passing units of course!!

Great film Sharpo, did you only stay until about 3pm? I didn't noticed you filming the 2.15 from Kidd I was going to Bewdley on it.

I stayed until 6.30pm, I got some good photos of the class 40 at the end of the day, shunting it's stock.

Thanks Joe. I was there to see the 40 arrive and depart, plus anything else in between. As I wanted a couple of photos of the 40 I had a walk round from the footbridge to the car park, but as it was blocking the view of 34027 I filmed the 2.15 from the miniature railway station - certainly wasn't trying to hide!!

So are the SVR going to swap the ELR based 40s as I thought the one we hired wasn't the intended one.
