I cannot see this mentioned elsewhere.
A chap on the Stanier 8F Society stand at KDR mentioned on Saturday that during the first week of Auguust both 48773 and 45110 are going to be extracted from the Engine House and displayed at Kidderminster.
Presumably not formally announced as yet, so take the comment for what it is at present.
We have missed a huge publicity opportunity by not having overhauled 45110 for the August anniversary, but in fairness overhauls cost lots of money, and we also have an agreed "pecking order" for overhauls.

Part of the post on the SVR Special Events page says:
Quote: | On August 4th 1968, British Railways ran its last timetabled mainline steam service. On that day 50 years ago, two of our own engines were in operation: Black 5 No. 45110 and 8f No. 48773, and in 2018 we'll be looking back at that fateful day.
Attractions include:
Black 5 No. 45110 and 8F No. 48773 on display at Kidderminster - making a rare appearance outside The Engine House at Highley.
Frequent service of steam and diesel trains, including Black 5 No. 45231 The Sherwood Forester and 'Flying Pig' No. 43106 hauling service trains. No. 43106 celebrating 50 years on the Railway, having arrived on August 2nd 1968.

Ah, thanks for that. Must look harder!
Rob
PS; Incredibly the chap I was talking to on the 8F stand was on the same "end of steam" special that I was on, from Stockport to Carnforth behind 45156. 4th August 1968. |

Last Days of Steam
We jointly commemorate the 50th anniversary of the final days of steam on British Railways with Kidderminster Railway Museum.
On August 4th 1968, British Railways ran its last timetabled mainline steam service. On that day 50 years ago, two of our own engines were in operation: Black 5 No. 45110 and 8f No. 48773, and in 2018 we'll be looking back at that fateful day.
Attractions include:
Black 5 No. 45110 and 8F No. 48773 on display at Kidderminster in Platform 2 - making a rare appearance outside The Engine House at Highley. You'll be able to visit the cabs of both engines.
Frequent service of steam and diesel trains, including Black 5 No. 45231 The Sherwood Forester (subject to availability) and 'Flying Pig' No. 43106 hauling service trains. No. 43106 celebrating 50 years on the Railway, having arrived on August 2nd 1968.
Unmissable photo opportunities with both Black 5s.
Photography exhibition showcasing images from the last days of steam in Kidderminster Railway Museum.
Launch of the book 'Transition' this is the latest book of photographs by Colin T Gifford, widely recognised as one of most important and influential photographers of the period. The well-known photographer will host a book signing from 10am - 4pm.
Members of the Master Neverers Association reenacting the cleaning of No. 45110 and No. 48773 from 12.30pm.
Gathering of footplate crews from August 4th 1968: Lostock Hall and Rose Grove sheds who were actively involved in the final days of steam, including the man who dropped the fire of No. 45110 after it had worked the very last train on August 11th.
Both the Master Neverers Association and former footplate crews will be on hand to inspire you with their memories of steam on British Railways.
Saturday evening 'Fifteen Guinea Special' recreation (additional charge applies).
Trade and memorabilia stands.
Vintage vehicles on display in the station forecourt.
1960s built locomotives on the Coalyard Miniature Railway.
All attractions are subject to availability.
Normal fares apply.

Live piece broadcast from Bewdley this morning on BBC Breakfast TV, a mix of the end of steam and 2857's 100th.
Sadly the infill piece about the attractions of Heritage Railways was filmed on the East Lancs Railway, not the SVR.
David Postle just managed to get in a plug for Kidderminster on Saturday before the mike was moved away .
A pity this live broadcast wasn't filmed at Kidderminster with 48773 and 45110 featuring. |

Unfortunately, the planned visit of Black 5 No. 45231 The Sherwood Forester for the event will not be taking place. Due to reasons beyond the SVR's control, the locomotive has not arrived on the Railway. We apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment this may cause.

It sounds like it's going to be a great event and I hope a successful one. Unfortunately, I wont be able to come and see it, as last Friday it was nearly the end of me, with a heart attack. I've been confined to the sheds for four to six weeks.

4th August at Kidderminster:
The Master Neverers Association later performed a cleaning of 5110, for old time's sake! |

Two of mine from Saturday morning shortly before the first steam departure, hence the reasonably quiet platform.
And two from a flying visit on the Sunday afternoon when, as Sharpo said, the dining set was still out. My thanks to the operators of the Coalyard Railway who granted me access to take the 8F photo.

Cheers Tim.
A postscript - 48773 is now in the bay platform for a few days and was still open for footplate visits today. 45110 has returned to store. |
