Well it will keep a smile on Mark Zuckerberg's face then.

I presume one of the home fleet will take its place? B12 and a blue king is more than enough for me.

I must be careful about the Social Media policy, but in this case AIUI that was not in the SVR's control

There will be further announcements this week regarding which locomotive will replace 1264 and work its booked diagrams at the Spring Steam Gala.

Meanwhile:

Quote:
Today there has been a major bridge strike at Castleton Moor on the Whitby branch. The bridge was hit by a refuse lorry and has been significantly damaged as has the track. The route will likely be closed for several days and means Tornado cannot leave the North Yorkshire Moors Railway by rail.

Although we are reluctant to move the locomotive by road, we do not want to let down the Severn Valley Railway and all those wishing to see Tornado this coming weekend. Therefore we are working hard to get Tornado moved to Bridgnorth before the start of the gala on Friday. An outline plan for road movement is in place and we shall provide an update as soon as plans are confirmed.

60163 might be coming by road as there's been a bad bridge strike on the Whitby branch.

EDIT National rail enquiries states the line is expected to be shut till the end of service tomorrow.

Somebody told me it was somewhere on Facebook that 43106 would replace it!

I was obviously told fake news then, as 53808 replaces the B1 now. Amusingly first I heard about it was a post on YouTube, but it is confirmed on SVR site. Great, I like those S&D locos.

Oh, forgot to say - good thinking to catch that loco on its way back from KWVR gala!!!

I agree, luck would have it being in Yorkshire and so not much of a diversion to bring it down to Bridgnorth.

Talking with a friend in Yorkshire this evening, he was expecting 53808 to have worked some trains up at the KWVR next weekend, he was disappointed to hear it will be with us. I'm not though.

"Unfortunately due to overrunning winter maintenance. The loco is not yet finished and we will not be able to make the loco fit for its move to SVR with Tornado on Tuesday.

We apologise for the disappointment this may cause, and hope that you will continue to support us in the future.

We do hope that the loco can visit the SVR at some point in the future.

We are still planning to carry out the Whitby Flyer tours on 7th and 14th April.

Thompson B1 Trust."

It's a pity that the B1 is not visiting, it was the only loco I haven't seen. It's a good line up. Though there may be some snow about on Saturday, and very cold for the weekend. Wrap up warm. Itís barely getting to freezing point during the day with gale force gusts. It should make it good for plenty of atmospheric photos of steam and smoke.

the B1 was still in the MPD, having been stopped on Saturday from going to the Severn Valley because of problems with its springs, discovered during efforts to weigh it.

It's bitterly cold today, strong wind as well, not ideal for filming, spent more time in Kidder museum than outside. Think my zoom finger froze earlier, it was so numb I couldn't tell if l was operating the zoom button on the camcorder.

All trains seem to be running well, don't think I'll be late home today

Great day on the valley yesterday. My thanks to all involved, especially to the volunteers at Eardington (the hidden gem of the SVR).
