just announced on the svr.co.uk website:

The return of the 'Lady in Red' . . .
Happy Christmas everybody! We thought we'd make your Festive Season that little bit more special with our first Autumn Steam Gala announcement...

No. 6233 Duchess of Sutherland is our first star attraction for our Gala from September 20th - 23rd, and will be appearing in stunning LMS Crimson Lake livery.

Paired with our beautiful rake of LMS carriages, the 'Duchess' will look right at home hauling an authentic train. Having last visited us in 2013, then in British Railways green, No. 6233's 2018 return will be a sight to behold.

The 'Duchess' is a real icon in the world of railway preservation after hauling the Royal Train as part of HRH The Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations in Wales in June 2002, and then again hauling the Royal Train in 2005 over the famous Settle-Carlisle line with HRH The Prince of Wales on board.

No. 6233 Duchess of Sutherland appears care of ‘The Princess Royal Class Locomotive Trust’.

More information will be available soon...

A return to the big engines for autumn gala then, though the Spring Gala has some big engines as well.

There hasn't been an update on the Autumn Gala page in months. Is there any news on 4th engine and is 45231 The Sherwood Forester still coming as Facebook suggests it isn't coming full stop.

The timetable has been released today. 45231 still listed on that as attending.

I saw that I think that has been the first update in ages it looks like SVR haven't been able to get a 4th engine then.

Two observations:

On the positive side, the timetable is worded "Visiting locomotives include: No. 6233 Duchess of Sutherland, Q6 No. 63395 and Black 5 No. 45231 The Sherwood Forester". "Include" could mean there is still another loco to come. The website provisional roster also implies this, for example Saturday: 813, 1450, 2857, 6233 Duchess of Sutherland, 34027 Taw Valley, 45231 The Sherwood Forester, 63395 + TBC. Of course TBC could be a home loco.

On the negative side, 45231 is still listed as working the Sugar Loaf Mountaineer on the Gala Sunday, so something will have to change at either Pathfinder Tours or the SVR.

On the website gala page (as opposed to the timetable) it says "Further visiting locomotives will be announced shortly!". If this is taken literally that's at least two more guests to be announced, so even if the Black Five is elsewhere that would be four guests.

It would be nice to see something different at the gala - 76084? 75014? 73156? 34092 'City of Wells'? Taff Vale 85?

Which still includes the comment "Further visiting locomotives will be announced shortly!" and the "TBC" in the provisional locomotive roster.
