Who owns 5164?
It's a lovely engine and one of my luck engines for photographing in the sun.
I'd happily send the owners some pics. _________________ Michael Howard

I don't think so
I'm a life member of said organisation - it's one of my pics on the front page.
We own 7325/9303, but not 5164 _________________ Michael Howard

Hi Mike
According to the ninth edition of the stock book it belongs to the 5164 Preservation Group.
I hope this might help. _________________ Mike Cranmore

It's owned by a seperate group of shareholders I believe. I don't know the exact details - eg what they call themselves, etc.... _________________ Adrian

having 5164 on 10 coaches this weekend seems a big ask - or am I under estimating its power? Wouldn't it have been better to have 7802 on that diagram? |

You have answered your own question - you are underestimating its power . I've had 5164 with 10 on with no problems - 46443 has to work harder with 8 on, than 5164 does with 10...
The full answer is: 5164 is authorised to take 350 tons on the SVR, with an allowance to a further 20 tons at the driver's discretion (the same as a manor). Any loading beyond 370 tons requires special authority. 10 coaches weigh between 310 and 350 tons depending on the type of coaches. _________________ Adrian

She has been out of use for valve and axlebox repairs from 10 September. Having shared a lot of the traffic this season, she is having a long-overdue bottom end and axle box overhaul. The wheelsets were removed using the wheeldrop, again proving the use of this facility for routine maintenance work (SVRA website).
At 14 October new valves and pistons were fitted, cross heads and motion bushes are metalled awaiting machining and leading axle boxes were next for the white metalling bench (SVR Twitter).
Work on 5164 is progressing well, with a view to having the loco available for the Santa season trains. The leading driving wheel set is about to be replaced using the wheel drop following axle box repairs, with a test steaming and the trial run imminent The Bugler, SVRA, 18 November http://www.svr-association.org.uk/bugler01.html

Table C -- train was 16.35 -- departed only 5 minutes late !! | Isn't the disparity in the length of minutes dependent upon which department is blameworthy? _________________ There are two kinds of people.
